Deck the Halls Part 2

November 30, 2014 ~ the month is coming to a close and December will arrive to find us all decorated for Christmas, but we didn't make it by much! Today, Randy took the boys and headed out to the tree farm to find "just the right tree" and I believe they did! It is BEAUTIFUL!

Here are pictures of the tree before, during and after decorating.

After Thanksgiving and more

Black Friday - Unlike thousands of other people, I did not brave the chaos. Instead, we relaxed most of the day, listened to Christmas music and watched a Hallmark show.

Dinner tonight was Egg, Ham and Cheese Scramble and Pumpkin pancakes. It was devoured.

While taking care of after dinner clean-up, I decided we needed to clean the refrigerator from top to bottom. Basically that means unload the fridge, remove the drawers to wash and dry. Wash the walls of the fridge, re-install the drawers, wash the shelves, and put all food back in. I love a clean fridge, but with five males in my house, there are times that things get out of hand. Especially during the holidays.

I LOVE a nice clean and organized fridge! Our left overs are coming to an end.

Last night's dinner consisted of bread dressing, turkey, rolls, green bean casserole.

This picture was taken before we headed off to Thanksgiving Lunch and my sister's house.

I was waiting for everyone to get into my vehicle so I took a little "selfie" of myself with Mia (left with the squinty eyes) and Beckett (the nosy one). Ryan was in the seat behind me.

We had a great time with family and laughed until we hurt!

More photos from Thanksgiving:

and the lake ducks -

They usually come up into the yard and 1/2 circle around Katelyn. I suppose she is duck mama to many. They are so very beautiful! Cameron did say he saw a hawk swoop down and fly off with one today. Really scary . . . we are always careful with our Mi-Ki dogs as they are small enough to carry off too.

And our ducks too . . .
Have a Great Weekend Everyone!

Slept My Evening Away and Up at 2:00 a.m.

Do you ever have those evenings when you lay down to watch a little television and immediately fall asleep?

Wednesday evening was just such an evening for me. I fell asleep just after dinner and woke at 12:30 a.m.

Little Beckett is curled up between my arms as I write. If she isn't in my arms, she is curled up on her blanket in front of me.

Wednesday afternoon I had a dental appointment for filling replacement. It was a big job as the fillings were approximately 35 years old. Guess Mom and Dad got their monies worth on those! Anyway, my dentist Mike and his assistant Cheryl were amazing. There was absolutely Zero pain during the procedure . . . Mike does a great job with numbing! Cheryl took care of making sure nothing nasty when where it shouldn't and used the "sucker straw" really well, Plus all of the other things she took care of. Mike and Cheryl work very well together and I was very relaxed . . . o.k. I have to admit, I did put a little Lavender essential oil on my wrists before I headed off to the dental office. The procedure was over in less than an hour and I absolutely felt no pain until after dinner when the numb feeling began to fade away. Mike told me to expect to be a bit sore . . . and he was right. I was surprised though, my teeth and gums aren't sore, but where the numbing agent was administered (by needle) was quite sore. I guess keeping my mouth open wide during the procedure aided in that soreness. I am thrilled to say that I didn't use any over the counter pain medication! Instead I opted for essential oils - AromaTouch and Katelyn's Blend.  Anyway, all in all it wasn't bad and I am glad the fillings have been replaced and are all pretty white instead of ugly silver.

The kids were awesome and let me sleep next to them on the couch while they were watching Duck Dynasty. I am thankful they are a bit older and don't need constant tending.

Here are a few pictures of Beckett - she was asleep until I moved a little and woke her.

I don't think she was amused!

Good night

It is Sunday night 10:36 p.m. as I begin to write. The weekend was a pretty relaxing one for us, to which we are thankful.

We received our first snow and it lightly covered the rooftops. Cody thought he could go outside and make a snowball, but learned quickly that wasn't possible.

The boys were talking about Thanksgiving today. They are ultra excited about it this year. I know it is because the LOVE to eat! I can't believe how much they can put away! Growing boys I suppose. I do praise God they are healthy AND for my pantry!

Next week begins the craziness of the Holidays. I vow NOT to shop on Thanksgiving. I am of the opinion we should celebrate with our family and not pad the pocket of stores. I am also thinking of declaring Thanksgiving Day an Unplugged Day at our house - No electronics, No computers, No hand held type games, No television. I may end up with a revolt on my hands though. We shall see.

Stores and commercials are beginning to advertise for Christmas.

Sainsbury's Official Christmas Ad is amazing . . .

As we prepare ourselves, our families, our homes . . . we should also prepare our hearts. Listen to Matt Chandler . . .

Have You Hugged a Duck Today?

If your home is like ours, the weeks have been running into one another. November is almost half over, Thanksgiving is a little over two weeks away and then December.

I snapped a few photos with my iphone.

The boys could not resist the leaves!

New glasses for three of the boys.

No glasses required for this boy.

I caught this fella flossing his teeth! Yay!

Car Wash time again!

Photo bombed by Cameron!

I can hardly tell Christmas is next month. Look at all of this mail!!! After going through it, I actually had two catalogs to look at and a few envelopes to open. Sheesh!

Katelyn and Twizzler . . . Have you hugged a duck today? If you haven't you should!
