Crazy Overwhelming World

This world we live in can be overwhelming. It seems like every direction we turn, the world is in chaos . . .

  • Terrorism
  • Hate crimes
  • Vandalism
  • Racism
  • Society in an uproar
  • Disease
  • Disrespect
  • Ignorance
  • Torture
  • People against people
  • Anger
  • Deceitfulness
  • Thievery
  • Dysfunction
This list could go on and on . . .

I don't like listening to or reading the news. Tonight I was reading prayer requests on Facebook and came across a family that has been devastated by a car accident. The accident killed their baby girl and it seems has paralyzed their 4 year old daughter. All in an instant.

I was reading another post about a little boy that had a horrific accident a year or so ago. Someone keeps others informed of this little guy and his progress and struggles. Apparently, this site has been receiving horrific comments toward this little boy and his family. This type of thing is called "trolling". Why would anyone be so hateful to anyone, especially a little boy and his family that is simply asking for prayer?

Of course, everyone is aware of the Ebola scare that is currently happening around the world.

This world is out of control! This world NEEDS Jesus.

How do you handle the stresses of the world? What do you do to keep your home free from tragedy, terrorism and all of the "indescribable" negative influences of the world?

For us, we enjoy our home . . .  without the "noise" of the world.

I love turning on Christian music and then cranking it up a bit.

We spend time together preparing meals in the kitchen, each of the kids help out one night a week.

We enjoy movies together . . . along with fresh popped popcorn with freshly melted butter.

Anyone that knows us, knows that we love, love, love God's creatures. Taking care of, loving and simply enjoying them helps take the stresses of the outside world away.

Talking with one another about this or that . . . it is also a great time to simply sit back and listen to the kids talk to one another.

Impromptu outings . . . it is generally too hard to actually plan something and make it happen as it seems something always comes up. We like to decide on the fly about places to go. I think it makes it more fun that way.

Sometimes we cuddle up and I read a few chapters from a book aloud. I love seeing eyes light up while listening!

We also enjoy touching someone else's life or family. Fun little projects to give or doing just a little something unexpected.

Evenings provide time for devotions. I am so thankful that my husband takes the time to read through devotions and have nightly prayer with our boys. I love that he shares with them his struggles and triumphs. I love that he demonstrates "how" to lean on Jesus. I pray my boys will always remember "devotion time with Daddy."
