Can you believe it is August 1st?
Over half of the year is gone!
I was chatting with my Mom the other day . . . We were both of the opinion that Summer has been here for a VERY long time.
We have had warm summer like weather since February or so.
Very unusual for Central Illinois!
I have to say . . . I really like FOUR separate seasons ~ although we are extremely blessed with a HUGE increase in Business.
I just noticed how dark it is at 8:15 p.m. I can tell we are sneaking up on Fall . . . besides hearing the song of the locust.
This afternoon, Katelyn and I had a request from Cody . . .
"Could you make some of those balls?"
Of course we can . . .
We can't seem to keep those yummy protein treat balls in the house, so tonight we made a double batch!
There are so many variations to try . . .
The recipe we came up with:
2 cups Quaker Oats
1 regular size jar of peanut butter (or alternatives)
3/4 cup of honey
1 bag of milk chocolate chips (or alternatives)
and then you choose -
add any or all of these in whatever amount you choose:
sun flower seeds
(we actually do not use any type of nut in our home due to Cody's peanut allergy . . . the treats are yummy with the raisins,
sun flower seeds and apricot)
Mix all ingredients well.
Everything should combine and not be dry. If the mix seems too dry, add a little more honey.
drop from a cookie dough scoop or spoon -
you can also roll them into balls
I keep them in the fridge . . . covered or in a ziplock bag.
Katelyn finished up a painting project for my sister Janeie.
In fact, it was two separate paintings.
Take a look:
Aren't they gorgeous?
Aunt Janeie had the idea and asked Katelyn to paint it.
Katelyn simply went with it . . .
Aunt Janeie said,
"she just slapped some paint here and there
and this is what she came up with . . . "
We are thrilled that they love it!
While I am at it . . .
Here is a Commissioned Drawing Katelyn finished and was picked up today . . .
The photo was taken before it was framed.
It looked incredible!
and now a song from Tim Hawkins . . .
